Money word

Goal

A specific target you're saving or investing money toward.

A goal turns a vague wish into a number and a timeline — college in 15 years, a first car at 16, or simply a long-term nest egg. Naming the goal makes it easier to choose the right account and the right level of risk for how far away it is.

Explain it to your kid

"Something you're saving up for."
