Money word

Ticker

The short letter symbol that identifies a stock, like AAPL for Apple.

A ticker is a stock's nickname on the market — a few letters that stand in for the full company name (AAPL, VOO, DIS). Kids pick them up fast, and spotting the tickers for companies they recognize is often the spark that makes a portfolio feel real.

Explain it to your kid

"The short letter code for a stock, like AAPL."
