Install the MemoryBank app on your phone or tablet

Yes — MemoryBank can be installed as an app right on your phone or tablet's Home Screen. It's what's known as a PWA (progressive web app): instead of downloading from the App Store or Google Play, you add it straight from your browser, and it opens like a normal app — a tappable icon, full-screen, with no browser bars. This works on both iPhone/iPad and Android, and it's the nicest way for a kid to open their dashboard every day.

First, make sure the device is paired so it actually shows your kids dashboard (see "How to pair a kid's device"). You can also add the icon first and type the 6-digit pairing code the first time it opens.

iPhone or iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Safari and go to mymemorybank.app/kids.
  2. Tap the Share icon — the square with an up arrow (bottom of the screen on iPhone, top on iPad).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Name it something like "MemoryBank" and tap Add.

A MemoryBank icon appears on the Home Screen. Tapping it opens the dashboard full-screen, just like an app.

On iPhone and iPad this only works from Safari — Chrome and other browsers don't offer "Add to Home Screen" there.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and go to mymemorybank.app/kids.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Install app (some Chrome versions say Add to Home screen).
  4. Confirm.

A MemoryBank icon appears in your app drawer and on the Home Screen, and opens full-screen like a normal app.

Removing it

Just delete the icon like any other app. It doesn't unpair the device or change anything in your account — you can re-add it anytime by repeating the steps above.

If instead you're setting up a tablet to stay on all the time as a wall display or photo frame, see the always-on setup guides — those cover keeping the screen awake and locked to the dashboard.
