My bank keeps asking me to re-sign-in
If you keep getting bounced back to your bank's sign-in screen every time you try to use MemoryBank — that's an OAuth loop, and it's almost always solvable in a few steps.
What an OAuth loop is
Your bank requires periodic re-authorization for safety. When that re-auth fails (or is incomplete), the connection appears valid in some places but invalid in others. The fix is to fully reset the connection so a clean re-auth runs.
Try this sequence
- Clear the saved connection.
- Open /dashboard/connections.
- Find the brokerage you're being looped on.
- Click the trash icon to remove it completely.
- Sign back into your bank directly (in a separate browser tab) to make sure your bank password and MFA are working there. If you can't sign into your bank's own site, fix that with your bank first — MemoryBank can't help with bank-side login issues.
- Re-add the connection from scratch.
- Back in /dashboard/connections, click Add Account.
- Sign through the full OAuth flow.
- This time, watch for the "Approve" or "Allow" prompt at the end of the bank's flow. Some loops happen because that final approval is skipped or denied.
- Reassign accounts to kids in /dashboard/accounts — the fresh connection will create new account rows that need to be assigned again.
If it loops again on the same bank
A few less-common causes:
- Multi-factor mismatch. If you recently added or changed an MFA method on the bank side (new phone, new authenticator), some bank-side connections need to be reset on the bank's side first. Look for a "Manage connections" or "Third-party access" page in your bank's online portal.
- Joint accounts with separate permissions. If your kid's account is jointly held and the other holder has different permissions, the bank may require both holders to approve the connection. Talk to your bank.
- Stale browser session. Open a fresh private/incognito window for the reconnection.
When to contact support
If you've tried all of the above and you're still in a loop, contact support with:
- The name of the bank.
- A screenshot of the error or the loop screen.
- Approximate time you last successfully connected.
We can check on our side whether the bank is reporting a known issue, and walk through any bank-specific quirks.
