What does the kids dashboard show?

The kids dashboard shows a simple summary of each kid's investing accounts in real time:

  • Total value — what the account is worth right now (balances + market value of all the holdings).
  • Today — how much the value has gone up or down today (in dollars and percent). On weekends and holidays this is usually flat because the stock market is closed.
  • Total Gain — how much the account is worth above what was originally put in. This is gain since the account started, not just this year.
  • YTD Contributed — how much fresh money has been added since January 1.
  • Holdings — the stocks and ETFs the kid owns, with their symbols and how much each is worth.

Numbers don't match my brokerage exactly?

Tiny differences can show up because:

  • Stock prices update at slightly different times across providers.
  • Pending dividends or transfers may show up at your brokerage a few hours before they show up here.
  • Outside market hours, both we and your brokerage may be showing the last closing price.

If the numbers are far off (more than a few percent), the connection may have expired — see the "Why is my dashboard showing demo data" article.
