Turning on notifications (and the iPhone/iPad step)
MemoryBank can send a notification when something fun or important happens with the money. They're off until you turn them on, and you set them up per device.
How to turn them on
- Open Settings (the gear icon). On a kid's dashboard it's in the settings sheet; on the parent side it's under /dashboard/settings.
- Find the Notifications card and switch it on.
- When your phone or browser asks for permission, tap Allow.
- Use Send test to confirm a notification comes through.
iPhone and iPad: install the app first
On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work if you've added MemoryBank to your Home Screen first — Apple doesn't allow notifications from a regular Safari tab. So the order is: add it to the Home Screen, open it from that new icon, then turn on notifications. (See "Install the MemoryBank app on your phone or tablet.") The app will walk you through this if it notices you're on iPhone or iPad without it installed. On Android and desktop, you can turn them on right away — no install needed.
What you can be notified about
Toggle each type on or off:
- Big wins — hitting a money milestone, like reaching $1,000.
- Weekly recap — a quick roundup of how the money grew this week.
- Big movers — when one of the stocks jumps a lot in a day.
- New money — when someone adds money to the account.
Good to know
- Notifications are per device and browser, so turn them on for each device you want pings on (your phone, a tablet, etc.).
- Not getting them? Check the Notifications toggle is on, that you tapped Allow on the permission prompt, and — on iPhone/iPad — that you opened MemoryBank from the Home Screen icon (not a Safari tab). Then try Send test again.
