What does "What I'll Have When I'm…" mean?

The "What I'll Have When I'm…" section shows a fun estimate of what the account could grow into by a future age. Tap "Time Travel" to open the full view and slide through different future ages.

How the estimate works

It takes the account's value today and imagines it growing at a steady, average pace over the years ahead. That's compounding — your money earns a little, then that little starts earning too, like a snowball rolling downhill and picking up more snow. The more years you give it, the bigger the snowball gets.

What each bar is made of

The section shows a row for each future milestone age (like the next birthday, the teen years, and grown-up age). Each row has a bar, and the bar is stacked: every account the kid has — their brokerage/UTMA, their Roth, any manual accounts — is projected forward and stacked together, so the full bar is the whole account total at that age. Tap "Time Travel" to open the bigger view, where hovering shows the breakdown: what you started with, what gets added over time, and the growth on top, plus how each account contributes.

It's a "what if," not a promise

This is an illustration to make compounding feel real — not a prediction and not a guarantee. Real markets go up and down and never grow in a perfectly straight line, so the actual number will end up different. It shows the SHAPE of long-term growth, not a specific amount anyone is promised. (It also doesn't tell anyone what to do with their money.)

Why it's worth looking at

Seeing a small amount today turn into a much bigger number decades from now is the best way to feel why starting young matters so much. Time is the most powerful ingredient in investing, and this is the part of the dashboard that shows it off.
