What do the 🔥 "on fire" and 🫠 "melting" stock effects mean?

When a stock has a big move on the day, the ticker gives it a fun little effect so it stands out. Each one is based purely on how much the stock is up or down TODAY:

  • 🔥 On fire — up a lot today (about +3% or more).
  • A rainbow shimmer — a strong up day (about +1.5% to +3%).
  • ❄️ Chilly — down a bit today (about -1.5% to -3%).
  • 🫠 Melting — down a lot today (about -3% or more).

In between those, a stock just looks normal — most days, most stocks don't get an effect at all.

They're just for fun

These effects are a playful way to spot the day's biggest movers. They are NOT signals to do anything, and they say nothing about whether a stock is "good" or "bad." A stock can be on fire one day and chilly the next — that's ordinary day-to-day wiggling. Everything resets the next morning, so it's a brand-new picture each day. Over months and years, a single fiery or melty day barely registers; the long-term trend is what actually matters.
