How to connect Google Photos for the screensaver
The kids dashboard has an optional screensaver that cycles through family photos. To use your own photos instead of the built-in defaults, connect your Google Photos account. The Google Photos screensaver is included on the Starter and Family plans.
How to connect
- Sign into mymemorybank.app/dashboard.
- Open /dashboard/settings and find the Display section.
- Find the Google Photos card and click Connect.
- Sign into your Google account in the popup.
- Use Google's photo picker to choose which photos to share. This is one-way — MemoryBank can see the photos you pick, and nothing else.
How the screensaver works
After a period of inactivity (default 30 minutes, configurable per device), the kids dashboard fades to a photo slideshow. The slideshow cycles through your selected photos. Touch the screen or move the mouse to wake the dashboard back up.
Picking different photos later
You can change which photos are shared at any time:
- /dashboard/settings → Display section → Google Photos card.
- Click Manage selection.
- Use the picker to add or remove photos.
Privacy
We use Google's official Photos Picker API. That means:
- We don't see your full library — only the photos you pick.
- We don't store the photos. Each time we show one, we fetch a fresh URL from Google.
- Disconnecting from /dashboard/settings revokes all access immediately.
Adjusting the screensaver timeout
The screensaver delay is set on each kid device individually:
- Open the kids dashboard on the device.
- Tap the gear icon in the corner.
- Adjust Sleep timer (minimum 5 minutes).
Turning the screensaver off
You can disable the screensaver entirely from the device settings on the kids dashboard. The dashboard will simply stay on the kid view indefinitely.
