How to connect a brokerage account
Connecting a brokerage (Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard, Robinhood, and 11,000+ other institutions) is how MemoryBank pulls in your kids' real balances, holdings, and daily changes.
Linked accounts that sync automatically are part of the paid plans: Starter includes up to 3 linked accounts and Family up to 10. On Free, you can still add accounts by hand (see "Adding a manual account").
How to connect
- Sign into mymemorybank.app/dashboard.
- Open Connections from the sidebar (or go to /dashboard/connections).
- Click Add Account.
- Choose your bank or brokerage from the list — or search by name.
- Sign into that institution in the popup. Your username and password go directly to the institution, not to MemoryBank.
- Choose which accounts to share (usually you'll pick the kid's UTMA, brokerage, or Roth account).
- Back in MemoryBank, assign each shared account to the right kid in /dashboard/accounts.
Read-only by design
MemoryBank can only read your balances and holdings. We can't move money, place trades, or change account settings. Even if our side were compromised, no one could take a dollar out of your brokerage.
What if my bank isn't in the list?
Most major US brokerages are supported. If yours isn't, you can:
- Use a manual account in /dashboard/accounts — enter the account name and current value yourself. You can update it whenever you want; useful for accounts that don't have an electronic connection.
- Let us know via the Contact page so we can prioritize adding support for that institution.
After connecting
Your dashboard refreshes within a minute. If after several minutes you still see demo data or your real numbers haven't appeared, contact support — there's likely a one-time data issue we can fix from our side.
