How to rebuild (clear and refresh) account history

If a connected account's growth chart looks wrong — odd jumps, gaps, or values that don't match the brokerage — you can clear its saved history and pull a fresh copy from the institution.

How to do it

  1. Go to /dashboard/accounts.
  2. Find the connected brokerage in the list.
  3. Click Rebuild history (the circular-arrow button).
  4. Confirm. This deletes the saved chart history for the accounts in that connection and re-fetches it from the institution. The chart rebuilds itself within about a minute.

It only clears the saved chart history — it does not disconnect the account, change your holdings, or unassign anything from a kid.

When to use it

Reach for this when the chart looks off — especially right after you reconnect an account, or if a stretch of history looks flat or wrong. If the dashboard is showing demo/placeholder numbers instead, that's a connection issue — see "Why is my dashboard showing demo data" first.

Note: connected accounts only

Rebuild history works for linked brokerage accounts, because the history can be re-pulled from the institution. Manual accounts don't have this option — their history is built from the values you enter, so there's nothing to re-fetch, and clearing it would lose it for good.
